The sails are made out of solar tissues: semiconductors are interwoven in the fabric, converting solar energy into electricity. The cockpit countertop has been engineered with the same technology. In this way the daily energy requirements of the boat are well accounted for; the boat engine itself has been designed as a zero emission engine, cutting the boat operating costs. The sails supply another form of energy to the boat as well as propelling it onward.
